The Turbulence Energy and Combustion Group is a research group with members drawn the from the Schools of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering at The University of Adelaide. The group comprises approximately ten staff and twelve postgraduate research students. They work on the control of turbulence and its application in combustion to provide environmentally responsible commercial solutions for industry. Since the late 1980s this group has published over 200 papers, it has consulted widely, and it has secured five patents. The experience of the TEC Group spans the fundamental sciences of fluid dynamics, turbulence, fuels and combustion. The group applies these sciences for the development of combustion systems. The group also has a strong interest in energy and environmental policy. Together the group members have developed strong industrial links through consulting and through the commercialisation of the patented precessing jet combustion technology. They have published widely in leading scientific and industrial journals and they have developed collaborative links with leading institutions across the world.
