Adelaide Research and Scholarship : Schools and Disciplines : School of History and Politics
Teaching and research in the Discipline of History reflects the wide interests of the highly qualified staff, all of whom have significant international reputations. In terms of 'area studies', the Discipline covers the UK and Europe, North America, Australia and Southeast Asia, during periods of time ranging from the fourteenth to the present centuries. We are about to add the Middle East to to that list.Particular strengths of the Discipline in Adelaide include the study of modern warfare, migration, slavery, contact history, film, colonialism and commodity production, ethnic conflict, twentieth century political movements, religion and politics in the early modern era, and legal history. In addition to these, at Postgraduate level we also specialise in the history of gastronomy and in art history. Collections in this community
