The article discusses Australian actress, elecutionist, and suffragist Muriel Matters, focusing on her activism for women's suffrage in Great Britain. It comments on an incident in which Matters was arrested for chaining herself to the grille of the Ladies Gallery at the British House of Commons and sentenced to imprisonment at Holloway Gaol. The author also examines Matters' involvement in a 1909 attempt to bombard British King Edward VII with suffrage-themed handbills dropped from an airship. Other topics include her involvement in the suffragist Women’s Freedom League (WFL), her 1910 lecture tour of Australia, and her candidacy with the British Labour Party in the 1924 general election.-
