|Abstract:||The expository aim of this paper is to map the emotional terrain occupied by friends, enemies and others. The theoretical focus – that is, the explanatory purpose – is to explore two quite distinct matters: the psychological foundations and the moral appraisals of the emotional expression of human relationships. Whether the emotional relations between individual persons are homologous to the relations between nationstates is a question this paper may provoke, but will not seek to answer.|
