Abstract: | Meander line dipole antennas (MDA) are useful as radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antennas because of their relatively high radiation efficiency and small size. A method has been proposed recently to obtain the resonant frequency of an MDA by calculating its inductance. According to this method, the resonant characteristics of MDA are related to their physical dimensions such as meander height, width, number of folds, their position and the overall length of the structure. Good agreement is achieved between the results calculated by this method and those obtained by simulations using HFSS. A condition on the number of meander lines for the method to give accurate results is given. The principles of MDA design to achieve a desirable frequency are derived. It is demonstrated that this method can be used to analyze resonant properties of MDA accurately and efficiently. |
