| Abstract: | This chapter focuses on bundle gerbes, which provide a geometric realisation of the three dimensional cohomology of a manifold. It shows that the pattern of a p-gerbe being defined as a (p - 1)-gerbe on double overlaps of some open cover is exploited by Hitchin and Chatterjee to give a definition of a 1-gerbe. |
