dc.description.abstractRelations between Ministers for Education and Faculties of Education have often been uneasy. The history of Australian teacher education readily attests to this (Hyams, 1979). This paper uses comments by Australia’s then Federal Minister for Education, Dr Brendon Nelson, on the place and utility of sociology in teacher education courses as a catalyst to examine the content of social foundations of education textbooks for the period 1970-2005.-
