Abstract: | This is an overview paper describing the new paradigm of quantum computing and information, especially with regard to secure military communications. Secure communications are dependent on encryption systems that are in turn dependent on good algorithm development, strong encryption keys and secure key distribution. We present a description of the threat posed to current encryption systems by the advent of quantum computing and proceed to describe a secure key distribution scheme based on this very same quantum technology. We also discuss current and possible applications of this technology. |
