Management of software architecture knowledge is vital for improving an organisation’s architectural capabilities. Despite the recognition of the importance of capturing and reusing software architecture knowledge, there is currently no suitable support mechanism available. To address this issue, we have developed a conceptual framework for managing architecture design knowledge. A web-based knowledge management tool, Process-based Architecture Knowledge Management Environment (PAKME), has been developed to support that framework. PAKME is being trialled to help systematise the architecture knowledge management and evaluation process of an industrial collaborator. This paper reports the objectives, logistics and initial findings of this project, Specifically we have deployed and used PAKME in an Australian Defence acquisition environment for evaluating architecture of a aircraft system.en
