Abstract: Sand-shredded tire lightweight fills were prepared by blending sands with shredded tire with proper proportions. A laboratory investigation was conducted to study the materials' compression and shear deformation behaviors. A compression-load model was proposed by 1D compression tests. Rebound-reload tests was also conducted to reveal materials' plastic deformation. The materials' shear stress-displacement behavior were studied by direct shear tests. Deviatoric stress-axial strain-volumetric strain curves were observed by triaxial compression tests. Effects of mixing ratios and stress conditions on shear behaviors were also investigated. The efforts made in the paper provides better reference for the reuse of disposed tires in industry.
