Abstract
Existing literature highlights that exposure to domestic and family violence (DFV) is associated with poorer mental health in childhood (Carter et al., 2020; Gartland et al.,2021; Herrenkohl et al., 2008; Orr, Fisher, Preen et al., 2020). However, the literature is limited by the predominant use of studies focused on a short period of time with little account given to the mental health impacts that may occur over time.Existing research has also focused on the grouping of mentalhealth issues into internalising and externalising behaviours (Vu et al., 2016) which can restrict targeted interventions.
