Abstract

The South Australian bolide/meteorite impact cratering record has few confirmed impact structures, with only two confirmed impact structures (Acraman and Mount Toondina). Impact structures created by bolides require a range of diagnostic evidence for them to be considered proven or confirmed, with this including geophysical, geochemical and petrographic evidence. The evidence for an additional six suspected impact structures in South Australia that have been reported in the literature record is evaluated using the known diagnostic characteristics of bolide/meteorite impacts.
