Abstract

Human resource management in the hospitality and tourism industry requires attention in the metaverse. Addressing virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence, data utilisation, simulation, and gaming, evolving digital consumer profiles and behaviours, for instance, require unique employee attitudes, skills, and knowledge. Developing employees’ skills in order to deliver appropriate values linked to sustainability, diversification, collaboration, and technological evolution is a major hospitality and tourism development challenge. Talent management based on future metaverse trends demands attention. Talent management involves attracting, developing and retaining employees with unique and specialised skills, knowledge, experiences, and attitudes. This chapter explores strategic and operational employee talent management and leadership practices towards the utilisation of metaverse transformation within the hospitality and tourism industry. Research activities designed to attract, develop, and retain versatile, talented employees based on future metaverse human resource management trends are pursued.
