Abstract
Children in homeless families are negatively affected by the intersecting issues of poverty, domestic violence, mental illness and substance abuse. This article reviews literature and research about the multiple effects of homelessness on children. The article then outlines strategies for teaching social work students about the complexities of homelessness, using the policies and standards of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
