Abstract
This funded research examines how women farmer's experiences of farming, drought and distress are communicated through a visual, time-based narrative in the form of a stop-motion animation film titled 'Boots'n'all', dopting a participatory feminist approach, situating 'farm women in the research process as experts in ‘doing’, ‘thinking’ and ‘feeling’ (Bryant, 2022, p. 7).The film was developed through a process of co-design encouraging participation in the creation of a designed artefact, improving the design artefacts’ effectiveness and ... mutual learning between all participants (Fuad-Luke, 2009, p. 147). It combines animated text, imagery, sound, and participants' photographs which are 'produced in and by movement, they are not static, and do not stand for static surfaces but always represent environments they were part of' (Pink, 2011, p. 9).
