Abstract
Standardised patients have been employed in medical curricula in the USA since 1964. Standardised patients are commonly employed in examination settings. The student is able to practise new strategies with the standardised patient. ‘Red herrings’ should not be included in standardised patient scripts. What exactly do you want to achieve by using a standardised patient? Take the standardised patient through the script.
