Abstract

This paper examines Eunapius' Lives of Philosophers and Sophists in which he selectively highlights biographical details of Platonist philosophers around Iamblichus and otters. I argue that these sketches are meant to emphasise his position within three networks of pagan intellectuals in the fourth century in order to strengthen his polemical agenda against the Christians.
