Abstract
Ambient temperature treatment of the new bulky formamidine (2,4,6-Me₃C₆H₂)NC(H)NH(2,4,6-Me₃C₆H₂), HFMes, with 0.5 or 1.0 equivalents of potassium hydride or potassium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide yields the first potassium formamidinate complex [K{(η⁶-Mes)NC(H)N(Mes)}{(η⁶-Mes)NHC(H)N(Mes)], which displays attenuated reactivity with respect to deprotonation and solvent replacement of the included HFMes ligand.
