Abstract

This paper presents the results of an experimental program aiming to investigate the effect of the specimen size on the axial compressive behavior of circular concrete columns wrapped with spaced FRP rings. A database consisting of the up-to-date test results on FRP ring-confined concrete in the literature is established, and it is used for proposing a new design-oriented stress-strain model for FRP ring-confined concrete. The accuracy and reliability of the new model are validated by comparing the test results presented in this paper with the predictions by the new model. The comparisons show that the new model provides close predictions with test results.
