Abstract
Lithiated Ru(C{triple bond, long}CC{triple bond, long}CH)(dppe)Cp* reacts with polyfluoroaromatic compounds C<inf>6</inf>F<inf>5</inf>X (X = F, OMe, CN, NO<inf>2</inf>) and C<inf>10</inf>F<inf>8</inf> to give novel polyfluoroaryldiynyls end-capped with the Ru(dppe)Cp* group. Addition of tcne to Ru(C{triple bond, long}CC{triple bond, long}CC<inf>6</inf>F<inf>5</inf>)(dppe)Cp* afforded the butadienynyl Ru{C{triple bond, long}CC[{double bond, long}C(CN)<inf>2</inf>]C(C<inf>6</inf>F<inf>5</inf>){double bond, long}C(CN)<inf>2</inf>}(dppe)Cp*, while protonation with HBF<inf>4</inf>·OEt<inf>2</inf> resulted in cycloaddition to give [1,3-{Cp*(dppe)RuC{triple bond, long}C}<inf>2</inf>{μ-C<inf>4</inf>H(C<inf>6</inf>F<inf>5</inf>)<inf>2</inf>}]BF<inf>4</inf>. XRD molecular structures of complexes with X = F, CN, OMe and the C<inf>10</inf>F<inf>7</inf> derivative are reported. © 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
