Abstract
Numerous models have been published to predict the maximum intermediate crack (IC) debonding force in adhesively bonded plate-to-concrete joints. However, none of the models are generic in that they are only applicable to a particular retrofitting technique, and they are not explicitly a function of the fundamental property of adhesively bonded plate-to-concrete joints, that is the interface shear stress – slip relationship. This paper presents a generic model to determine the IC debonding force that is a function of the interface shear stress and slip and the debonding failure plane, which is applicable to both the externally bonded and nearsurface mounted retrofitting techniques.
