Abstract
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has greatly increased in popularity in recent years. The highest rate of use in South Australia is in 55- to 59-year-old women, 51% of whom are currently using HRT and 69% have ever used it; the adherence or compliance rate is approximately 80% in this age group. The median duration of therapy for all age groups is also increasing and now is 54 months. These figures may reflect the increasing amount of medical and lay information about the menopause and its management.
