The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential impact of nitric oxide supplementation on valve matrix calcification in a tissue culture model, and the interaction between superoxide anion release and the process. Data from the study suggest that superoxide anion release, induced by transforming growth factor beta 1 contributes to calcific formation and that nitric oxide can limit this process.aortic valve abnormalities; calcification; nitric oxideEffects of nitric oxide on aortic valve calcification in vitroThesis20110901165640
