The vessels studied were isolated segments of internal mammary artery and saphenous vein obtained from patients undergoing coronary bypass surgery. The results demonstrated that the presence of some risk factors for coronary artery disease may impair responses of arterial smooth muscle to glyceryl trinitrate.
