In these fibres light can be guided in a hollow core as a consequence of a bandgap effect, allowing for very weak interaction of the guided mode with the fibre structure. This opens the possibility for lower losses and nonlinear effects, and higher damage thresholds, than in conventional fibres. This paper presents the design and fabrication of photonic bandgap fibres for high power beam delivery applications at wavelengths of interest for electro-magnetic remote sensing.enMicrostructured fibres, photonic bandgap fibres, laser power transmissionPhotonic bandgap fibres for infrared applicationsConference paper00200763722008032015144844956
