An incompatible reaction occurs when both S and Z alleles of the pollen are present in the genotype of the recipient stigma. Either pollen grains fail to germinate or pollen tube growth is arrested shortly after contact with the stigma. This study examines the contribution of genes specifically expressed in the male gametophyte to the physiological processes during pollen tube germination and pollen stigma interaction. Among the aims of this study is the isolation of the Z gene.165643 bytesapplication/pdfenPhalaris Pollen.Phalaris Reproduction.Phalaris Genetics.Pollen mRNAs of Phalaris coerulescens and their possible role in self-incompatibility / by Ute Baumann.Thesis
