GLM arrays are used and integrated in display applications and communication links because they are simple to fabricate, and offer rapid switching. Using microelectromechanical system (MEMS) technology, a GLM can be easily fabricated utilising complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) processes. The purpose of this research is to fabricate a GLM that can be integrated into a wavelength-selective switching system to employ the ability to simultaneously de-multiplexing and switching an optical signal. Unlike typical MEMS optical switches, micromirrors will not be used in this system, the switching time solely depends on the GLM switching speed.enMetal oxide semiconductors, Complementary.Microelectromechanical systems.Design and fabrication of a grating light modular for use in wavelength-selective switching systems /thesis
