The rocks of the area are mainly, schists, quartzites, and marbles of Kanmantoo Series and Palmer Granite. The structure of Kanmantoo Series is pitching north synclinal fold, of which, the east limb was cut off by big fault separating the Mount Lofty Ranges from the Murray Plains.
