Tension management is a cognitive and strategic process designed to help organisations and managers create social and environmental value. The theory states that if managers can identify points within their organisations where social, environmental and economic priorities clash and create tension, then a manager can deploy a tension management strategy to mitigate tensions and ensure an equal distribution of value among all three priorities.
