In vitro and animal studies indicate that GLP-1 has immune-modulatory and neuroprotective effects. To determine whether these immune-modulatory and neuroprotective effects of GLP-1 are beneficial in the critically ill, studies achieving pharmacological GLP-1 concentrations are warranted.en© 2013 BioMed Central LtdHumansEnteral NutritionImmunity, CellularIntensive Care UnitsFemaleMaleGlucagon-Like Peptide 1The gut-brain axis in the critically ill: is glucagon-like peptide-1 protective in neurocritical care?Journal article002013604310.1186/cc127580003315397000602-s2.0-848791197512-s2.0-8488004042215832Plummer, M.
