Abstract: In this paper, we briefly outline one of DSTO's experimental research projects in passive bistatic radar. The illuminators of opportunity considered here are geosynchronous satellites. This paper presents an overview of the system, some theoretical analysis of the expected system performance, and the results of some real world target data captures at relatively close range. We conclude with a preliminary empirical analysis of the optimal CPI for the airborne target and this system.
