Abstract: We propose a backoff access policy that operates with a myopic sensing policy by taking into account imperfect information of channel conditions and user transmission behaviours for multichannel wireless networks. The sensing and access problem is formulated as a Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (POMDP) and is solved with simple and efficient heuristic approaches. Simulation results shows that system throughput is improved when using the proposed sensing and access policies jointly.
