Abstract
We study gluonic content of the pomeron and propose that the pomeron could be a reggeized tensor glueball ξ(2230) with quantum numbers I<sup>G</sup>J<sup>PC</sup> = 0<sup>+</sup>2<sup>++</sup>. This conjecture is examined in high energy proton-proton clastic scattering, and the calculations lend a favorable support to our physical idea.
