Subwavelength waveguides have opened a new era in the nonlinear waveguides field. The fundamental theory of nonlinear processes in these waveguides, including Kerr, Raman, and nonlinear polarization is presented. Experimental results and possible applications are discussed. © 2010 OSA/FiO/LS 2010.
