Abstract
Modelling of aiming errors associated with an unguided rocket propelled grenade (RPG) fired against a manoeuvring helicopter is an important task in operational tactics development, as well as, helicopter pilot training. This paper develops a new computational analysis approach to define the best helicopter manoeuvres to minimize the probability of hit from an arbitrary firing position. The probability-of-hit analysis is carried out using the firing statistics collected in human-in-the-loop simulations and calculated from Delaunay triangulation. The analysis results provide a prediction of probability of hit, which enables the derivation of optimal helicopter manoeuvre strategies for risk minimization. The probability-of-hit analysis in different situations is a valuable tool for helicopter pilot training.
