Information systems (IS) for engineering asset lifecycle management act as strategy translators as well as enablers. Therefore, the real value of IS relies upon how effectively these systems are mapped to asset lifecycle management processes, and how effectively they are synchronised with other IS in the organisation. On the other hand, engineering asset managing organisations adopt a traditional technology-centred approach to asset management, where technical system implementation command most resources and are considered first, whereas skills, process maturity, and other organisational factors are only considered relatively late and sometimes only after the systems are operational. This paper provides an evaluation of the IS implemented to support asset lifecycle in an asset managing organisation.
