Abstract

This research seeks to ascertain the preparedness of junior secondary teachers to teach and assess the oral language components of Into the 21st century,Attainment levels, the nationally developed profiles and statements and the key employment-related competencies. The uses of oral language which are valued by researchers, theorists and educators are compared with the uses of oral language valued by junior secondary classroom teachers.
