Abstract

Using Indonesia as a case study, this thesis examines what impact economic growth has on the natural environment. Contributes to the theoretical literature on growth / environment interactions with a dynamic model that takes environmental damage and production feedback effects into account. Suggests that policies which increase growth, such as trade liberalization, may have ambiguous effects on the natural environment
