dc.description.abstractThird molar surgery is the most commonly performed oral surgical procedure with most of the young adults having one or more impacted third molars. When impacted third molars are associated with pathology or recurrent symptoms, there is a consensus among clinicians about the need for extraction. However, there is a debate regarding the need for prophylactically removing asymptomatic disease- free impacted third molars.
