Abstract
Articulated through a visual art painting practice and exegesis the research offers a speculative though disquieting view of a futuristic posthuman born out of an altered evolutionary path. Until now, humans have evolved bio-centrically in response to experiences with nature. In contrast, the posthuman of this research has metamorphosed in reaction to an inseparable relationship with post-digital technology. This transformation is amplified by fundamental shifts in human experience. The onset of the Anthropocene, combined with the omnipotence of digital technology, signifies a loss of connection with nature. Moreover, genetic engineering in the quest for agelessness, manipulates DNA passed on to future generations. The imagined posthuman is presented as an idol of perfection; a Christ-like figure, eternally youthful but also ambiguously suspended between the familiar and the unfamiliar.
