Abstract

Managed metadata environments (MME) are being employed in large organisations that need to assure a consistent and efficient capture, integration and delivery of their enterprise-level metadata across the enterprise. Positioned in the information systems discipline with a focus on enterprise information management, this research addressed two main research objectives: to investigate factors contributing to successful implementations of MMEs; and by developing and understanding of conceptual roles on enterprise metadata, to explore the mechanisms by which metadata management generates value in organisations.
