Abstract

This study reports that patients with large body mass indexes (BMIs) and long-duration atrial fibrillation (AF) have greater defibrillation thresholds than patients with normal BMIs and AF of short duration. BMI is an independent predictor of defibrillation thresholds in patients with longer duration AF in whom external cardioversion has failed.
