Abstract
A simplified model to analyze the bond-slip effect in flexural composite members is presented in the paper. Taking a simply supported composite beam for example, influences of bonding stiffness and concrete cracking are studied. Numerical results show that the bonding stiffness has great effect on the stress distribution in flexural composite members. The steel stress increases with the rising of the bonding stiffness. It reaches a convergent value in the rigid bonding case, where the beam may be considered as a completely composite member and the plane-deformation-assumption is applicable to its flexural analysis. On the contrary, concrete cracking decreases the member stiffness. A deformation/deflection jump phenomenon arises at the occurrence of cracks
