This thesis comprises three reports on research into post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The research seeks to explore issues surrounding PTSD including treatment options, the nurses' role in providing this treatment and the perceptions of those who have undergone treatment for PTSD. Whilst one of the reports specifically looks at combat-related PTSD, the other two are more broadly based. It was noted, however, that within Australia, most PTSD treated in accredited programmes is combat related.en
