Abstract

The over-arching objective of this thesis is to increase understanding of immune-mediated necrotising myopathy, a rare and disabling autoimmune muscle disease. Specifically, we have described the clinical, histological, radiographic and immunological features of a cohort of South Australian patients with immune-mediated necrotising myopathy. The discoveries arising from these doctoral studies contribute insights to the pathogenesis of immune-mediated necrotising myopathy, in addition to providing clinically-meaningful information regarding disease characteristics that may ultimately aid the diagnosis and management of these debilitating conditions.
