Abstract
Soil disturbance causedby tine openers affects thesuccess of no-till seedingoperations, influencingissues such as furrowmoisture loss, weed seedgermination, seeding depthvariability across seedrows, crop safety and preemergentherbicide efficacy.
Research shows that lowrake angle openers increasesoil layer mixing and deepersoil delving while slightlyreducing furrow backfill. Abevel edge at the leadingface increases furrow sizeand reduces lateral soilthrow.
Bentleg openers combinedwith bevel edge features canmostly cancel soil throw andmaximise furrow backfill. They offer an unprecedentedability for high speed-low soilthrow no-till tine seeders.
