Abstract

This report develops stationary target detectors that can distinguish moving targets fromstationary ones for a bearings-only tracking problem. Two approaches have been proposedfor this problem. In the first approach, the estimated speed is compared with an adaptivethreshold. The target is declared as stationary if the estimated speed is less than thethreshold and is declared moving otherwise. The second approach uses a multiple modelestimator, which consists of a stationary and constant-velocity model. By computing thelikelihood of each model and contrasting them with each other, it is determined whether thetarget is stationary or moving. Extensive simulation results show the promising performanceof these algorithms.
