Abstract

We present a microfluidic platform for less-invasive diagnosis of endometriosis based on measuring deformability of eutopic endometrial stromal cells. Primary endometrial cells from patients were found to travel inside a narrow microchannel at a significantly higher velocity (96.5 mm/s) compared to cells from disease free women (57.52 mm/s) (P value < 0.001). Using velocity of endometrial cells as a biomarker of endometriosis gave a sensitivity of 100%, and a specificity of 83%. Instead of doing a laparoscopic surgery, our test reduces cost of diagnosis of endometriosis to only few dollars with the proper setup.
