Abstract
“Kontinuum” is a response to the immediate environment of the Austrian forests. Spruce and Beech were harvested from recently logged thinning’s. Naturally curved elements were selected, stripped of bark and joined using traditional techniques of splices and dowelling. The joints were contained using wet caning methods, to both tighten the structure and create barely visible connections. Composed as a continuous line, the structure is elevated one meter above the landscape allowing the elasticity of the material to create a kinetic interaction.
