Abstract
The material submitted in this volume represents those of my scientific publications in the field of Biochemical Pharmacology which are concerned with the Mechanism of Action of the Cardiac Glycosides or closely related areas of research. The work was carried out in various laboratories in Canada, United States of America, United Kingdom and Australia between January 1963 and December 1977; either directly by myself or in collaboration with colleagues whose various contributions are acknowledged in the accompanying explanatory notes to this submission. The aid of my various technicians and graduate students over the years is also gratefully acknowledged as is the financial support I have received from diverse government agencies and private foundations. I hereby certify that none of the material collected here has been previously submitted by me or any other person to the University of Adelaide or any other University for the Degree of Doctor of Science.
